What Does Jasana Mean?

Jasana is an Old English word that was originally used primarily by royalty to convey love for one’s children as part of a royal oath of honor and responsibility. Over time this word has developed several meanings: 1. Love and caring for family, especially children (e.g., Because of my jasana, I always place my family as the highest priority); 2. Stewardship of assets (originally for land, crops, and livestock) for the ultimate good of the people under your care (originally the peasants in the charge of the royal family) (e.g., While the King and his court could have gluttonously feasted during the famine, his jasana for his people drove him to preserve the grains for planting in the spring to ensure his people had plenty of food); 3. Responsibility and fidelity in the execution of one’s duties or obligations (e.g., John is our best employee because I can count on him to do his best to get the job done. He has the highest sense of jasana).

It also benefits us directly by creating a healthier, more comfortable, less stressful environment so our lives are a bit more peaceful and enable us to make incrementally better decisions. Eventually we will have changed our lives in positive ways to be better examples to everyone around us.

In construction it is very difficult to make changes because the industry standards are set to minimum acceptable levels. We have to train each employee how to make better decisions. This is a process, not an overnight conversion. Should we ever make a mistake, we will ensure it is corrected to your satisfaction. We believe that it is important to “do it once, do it right,” but how we handle the tough situations when something is less than perfect is much more important. You want someone who completes a job well, but you will be committed to someone you know will stand by you when something goes wrong.
